St. Georges Chapel/Albert Memorial Chapel Windsor
What can I say about St. Georges Chapel I could be here all day and bore the pants off you. To say its a wonder is an understament. The history is amazing from the burrials of Henry VIII to the Queen Mum. Here are some pictures of this wonderfull place the fan vaulting is just out of this world and one of the best examples of fan vaulting anywhere in the world.
I have also included two tombs as they are works of art in there own right. If you ever get a chance to go to Windsor and the castle do as its a gem of a place but please dont forget to go to St. Georges Chapel/Albert Memorial Chapel I personally spent hours in there.

This is Princess Charlotte tomb. Princess Charlotte died in childbirth and her death led to Queen Victoria comming to the throne. Princess Charlotte death was on the scale of Princess Diana's she was so loved by the nation. Her tomb just leaves you speachless and any photo cant do it justice. When you see it its so life like you think that someone has thrown a sheet over some figures and at any moment they are going to get up its that REAL.

stunningly beautiful, I always prefer cathedrals that have the gothic inspiration behind them, treasures like these could never be replaced it would cost billions

Absolutely stunning, the craftsmanship is superb, and when you think of the type of tools they used.

Re: St. Georges Chapel/Albert Memorial Chapel Windsor
when you look at buildings (buildings dont do it justice but you know what I mean
) do you wonder how many men/boys are buried in its foundations/ walls etc
I know it was common if a worker died on the job they would become part of the building in some way shape or form as it was cheaper to do this, I cant remember where I heard that but I must find out

Nads you need to read Ken Fooletts Pillars of the Earth its a fab read and talks about how they built these early cathederals etc and yes your right many were killed and no doubt lay in the foundations. Like you and Mags say think how many years it took them to build what they did with the primitive tools etc and think what it would take and cost today we just would never be able to do it.
