Ceasars Nightclub Streatham High Street South London

Post  magssdoc on Mon Feb 09, 2009 3:33 pm

I received the following on my facebook account, I've posted it in here for anyone who may be interested, although, I feel it may be a bit of a debarcle with too many people trying to investigate the place.
I used to go there when it was Cat's Whiskers in the 70's, and the High Street outside is really busy as is the road to the side of the Club, there is also a main line railway station next to the same road.
I had heard about this investigation on another forum.

Hi
I am from a company called CLEVELAND PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS and we will be holding a historical event at CAESARS Nightclub in Streatham , London. We will be running an overnight paranormal investigation on Friday 13th Feb 2009 to determine as to what spirits haunt the location. The club is famed for its connections with THE KRAYS , RUTH ELLIS ( the last woman hung in Britain ) and FRED BATT ( club owner and Most Haunted's expert Demonologist ). The club is due to be demolished in March 2009 so this could be the last ever event of this type to be held at Caesars.
We have also invited other paranormal groups to take part in this event to show that paranormal teams can come together and put on a good event , as well as allowing members of the public to join us
There has been a large amount of media interest in this event for several media sources including the BBC
The night will consist of various activities including Seances , Vigils and table tipping.
Ticket prices for this event are £45 per person with discounts for group bookings.
Anyone needing further details can contact Cleveland Paranormal Investigators on enquiries@clevelandparanormalinvestigators.co.uk , c.p.i@hotmail.co.uk , 01429 880604 , 07851 870518

Sad Sad Sad Its true there knocking it down to build an Asda and the bowling alley as well. Found this out looking on local sites apparently locals are not best pleased that the historic nightclub is going. It looks like there are going to be crowds at the ghost hunt including BBC and other tv etc. Its such a shame I am so sad. Sad

I'm surprised that no one slapped a preservation order on it.
When I lived in Streatham there was a lot of Art Deco flats along the high street.
I know it's not the nicest areas but People tend to look on that area as Streatham Heath. (The posh bit)

I am just so sad that its going as its the one place I would have loved to have done an invo. I was talking to Kev about it last night and he said I should just go and do it but its this Friday Shocked I would have done it as its the last chance to do so but from all the different bits I have found online I think its going to be a nightmare i.e. the world and his wife going plus press plus tv media etc so I dont think its going to be a proper invo more of a circus. I just hope that some other groups have been allowed in or will be allowed in to do a proper investigation before the place is being pulled down etc. I also hope the place is properly photographed as well. Still cant get over it and from what I have read locals are not happy about it. I have read there going to build an Asda but on another site that its going to be low cost housing which is so much better than yet another supermarket so I hope they build the houses mind you if they do it will be interesting to see in future is the ghosts move into the new premises whatever is built there.

From what I can remember, the dance floor itself was quite large.
In fact, it was teired if that makes sense and you and lots of seating towards the back of the dance floor. I don't know what was upstairs but on the balcony area there were tables and a bar.
The sound will carry a bit like Ordsall Hall, where there was no real barrier to the noise.

Because it has been opened to the public, it will be full of people going for a 'laugh', there will probably be lots of screaming and that would put me off.
Yes, you do get screaming on an investigation even amongst serious investigators but it will be £45 spent trying to listen under conditions that were not exactly ideal.
You would be better off treating yourself to a nightout there and doing an investigation whilst the nightclub is running. bigredgrin

hysterical your so right there Mags it would be easier to hear with a full disco going on. Its such a shame and such a wasted opportunity to do a proper invo I do hope he lets in other smaller groups to do a proper invo before the place goes.

Not much happened then!
It would be far better for the reporter to track down people who have worked in the place from it being built as the Locarno, through to Cat's Whiskers and then Ceasar's Palace.

Now thats a great point you make there Mags not only from a ghost point of view but the history of the place they could make a book etc. Thats why I hope they photograph the place well before its pulled down.

Just to let you all know about my good friend Dr Marty Cias event at Ceasars Palace on the 25th April 2009. This could be the last tome this historic building is investigated as it is due fro demolotion sometime in the future
Woody

Dr. Marty Cia and the P.S.I team have a one night only access ALL areas to give those individuals – believers and sceptics alike, groups and organisations interested in the paranormal the chance to attend alongside The Doctors team for a walk into the unknown.

A ram packed eventful exciting evening of pure medium ship and investigations that cannot be missed!

Including special surprise guest celebrities!

Tickets will be on sale as of 7th March at £30 starting from 7pm until 4am however this is down to you whether you
want to see the full night to experience more!

Mags it sounds like another full on event and not a proper invo i.e. with tons of peps there add to the fact celbs going to be there so that may pull in the punters who have not much interest in the paranormal etc it does not sound like my cup of tea which is a real shame.

I've sent the person who sent this to me, a few questions about the investigation.
I must confess I would like to go back there and do an investigation, but not under the circumstances where you can't hear anything.
Like at Ordshall that would have been a great venue if there was a few less. Or if when you were allocated a place you did not move during a vigil, like we did when we went from one room to the next.

Like you Mags I would only want to do one if it was not large numbers and if it was a serious one and not like I guess for many will be a night out of fun.
