There was a bit about this new act on the One show last night. I have heard that The Spiritualist Association are going to be holding a demo about it etc. Now its sad from the point of view of the Spirtualist Churches and good mediums but I really feel something should be done about the postal scams especially the ones directed at the elderly who its been found spend thousands of pounds a year on these scams as they receive letters in the post saying they must buy this or send money for that or something terrible is going to happen etc etc I really feel that something must be done to stop all these money making fraudsters.

Re: EU approved mediums and psychics
I dont think its right that Europe should meddle with our laws etc, but i think that the maverick mediums and psychics out there have only harmed the reputation of the others. It would have been better if the mediums had one controlling body (appologies if there is one) that was able to manage its own kind and keep out the fraudsters. They need to get their shop in order or else Brussels will be doing it for them.Mel, I have my doubts about the online and phone clairvoyants. Before this technology came in to use, readings were done face to face, maybe needing physical contact, then phones were invented and low and behold, its still ok to read over a phone line. Well at least there is still voice contact i suppose. Now not wanting to miss out on a good opportunity, we can also have readings done by email by someone on the other side of the world !!! I like the fact that the explanations get ever better as to why this is ok, " because a spirit energy is everywhere, so it doesnt matter how far away you are," which is very handy. Personally i think these types of people need cracking down on. Just my opinion.

Re: EU approved mediums and psychics
Dan I agree with you on EEC sticking there noses in if I had my way we would not be a part of Europe there a waste of space if you ask me I could rant for ages about this as the EEC only seems to help some countries i.e. FRANCE. Totally agree with you about these phone and email readings as well personally I would never touch one and would only go and see a medium that I have been recommended etc etc. Yes Dan there is a governing body that all good mediums and psychic belong to and if they dont behave properly they can be taken from the list etc. I personally have no time for any mediums who have loads of these phone lines and there is one husband and wife team that really gets my goat they are all over the internet and in every mag with there phone lines etc etc. Its the Spiritualist church and the like I feel sorry for as these peps travel long distances and only have there petrol money given them to help others similar to mediums like Gordon Smith who has and still does readings for nothing (he used to be a barber for years untill quite recently when he had to call it a day as there was just too much intrustion from peps and press when he was trying to work) Gordon makes a living from public performances and book which I have no problem with at all because at the end of the day you can go and see him or others like him at a performance at a theatre or buy the book or not. Unfortunately there are a lot of sharks out there who think nothing of ripping peps off especially the vunerable so I hope this law will clamp down on these peps.
