Haunted Wales a survey of Welsh Ghostlore by Richard Holland

Post  magssdoc on Sat Apr 25, 2009 9:15 am

I picked up this book a year ago when visiting the in-laws and we had a wonder around Cardiff, I was surprised to pick up three different books about hauntings including this one.

I finally dipped into it last week, and have been really surprised.
The book is well set out but in a different format to the usual.
It starts out with information about the book and different information about hauntings, getting rid of ghosts etc.

Each chapter is a county with the ghost stories set in each town listed alphabetically. The hardest thing about this book is getting your head around some of the Welsh name places and phrases but there is a glossary to help you with that.

Richard Holland has taken the tales of ghosts and hauntings of Wales, and where possible gone back to the original sources of the stories. None of the stories in the book is set after World War 2.

Once I have finished reading this book I will be offering it up to be borrowed so if you are intersted in reading this watch out for it appearing in the lending library.
