The Hungry Ghost Festival (China)
Ancient China
Celebrated to appease the wandering Ghosts and the ghosts of family members.
This festival takes place on the seventh month of the Chinese year, on the 15th day.
Offerings are made of food, paper money and other goods.
Incense is burnt to appease any angry spirits.
Families clean their ancestors graves and sometimes have meals at the side of the graves
It is similar to Halloween, in as much as it is a festival of the dead.
