I found the opening page an interesting read.
All to often, it can be too easy for someone to be taken for a fool at readings especially if you are naive and know nothing about cold calling.

goodpost Thanks that was a good read and some great points i.e. working of the room saying how good a certain medium is when a really good one can be missed just because there the real thing and wont stoop to those underhand tricks.

There are always a few pointers I always look for.
If they say someone of my age has someone in uniform........ most likely, when I was a child National Service was still around, so that cannot be counted as a hit.
Any common name given to you for a member of the family.
And if in this area and they mention travel then I don't count that because it is more likely than not, you have traveled if you live near an airport.
And animals, if they mention this person has a cat/dog, well most of us know someone who has either. But should it be a different or unusual animal then that would be a hit.

The daftest thing I ever saw was a "medium" going to a member of an audience and saying "Have you someone in spirit dear?" I had all on not to guffaw out loud! hysterical

A few years ago when I first allowed SKY into the house, I started watching Living TV......Colin Fry was new to the screens, and it was actually the documentary about the production crew taking Colin to their directors house....Colin immediately apologised, laughed and brought up that he had a spirit wanting to talk to this director.....he went straight into a reading, and I found this very impressive......I did think, maybe the crew had mentioned the directors background with him, but he did bring up a recently lost member of the family, and things happenning in the house, was that spirit, doors closing behind him, lights flickering......all of which made him quite emotional.....

I eventually got IT web literate and looked on the Living Site, I found appllication for Colins show, the 6th sense, and tried to get tickets, but I stopped half way through, when the application form came up and started asking for information that I could not see would be required to simply get a ticket to be a member of the audience.......it changed my mind on this programme, I cant imagine why they needed to know my fmily history to get a seat in the audience.....its a shame, because this type of thing only adds to our own sceptisism, but also adds fuel to the main sceptcis fire.....!

or is it just me.......but I do still watch 6th sense and John Edward in the evening.....saddest thin is, I had just lost my dad when I found COlin Fry on TV......so guess I was at an emotional point in my life......and almost desperate to hear my dad had met up with my mum and the little signs I kept having from my dad were true and not just in my mind.......I guess we need to take on board what we see, feel and take them at first reaction.......I knew these happennings were my dad......and have since seen a very gentle medium......who could NOT have known anything of what had happenned as they were very personal between my dad and I....silly little things.......

Yes I do Spud, I would love to go to all these programmes and see how they are filmed, I've been to a couple of talk show ones (Charlotte Church and a DJ one) and a couple of comedies, so am aware of how things can be cut to look better or sound funnier.
Like you, I think you should be able to apply for a ticket and just give your name, and pick the ticket up, a true medium will come out with information they don't need the extra information that can be gathered from that kind of source.

When my dad died five years ago, my mum wanted to go to a medium, but we managed to persuade not to rush off to one.
My sister and I went with her to a Pyschic supper, there was a few of us including two of my neices and Sister in law. The medium there was very good, but I could as I told my family, say that she was using general statements 'I see a man in uniform' well we live near Heathrow and there are lots of uniforms on the streets around our homes because they are are airport workers , plus someone of my age is more than likely to have known someone in uniform because when I was a kids, National Service was still in force. I always say listen to see if you are being asked questions.

very good point Mags.....Ive read where you have said that before......and their statements seem as such....until perhaps asftewards when you realise it was an indirect question......

I would love to go see that medium again.......he asked me to say nothing, not answer, just listen to what he had to say.....all very emotional after the event, but during the "reading" a very directa pproach

That's why I would recommend Gordon Smith to anyone looking for an evening of mediumship.
Especially if it is at the Logan Hall in London, this is a unallocated seating venue, so you could choose your seats, and move a couple of times if you want.
I defy any sceptic to then say that they have gathered information on you then.

I enjoyed GOrdon SMith when he was the medium on Most Haunted.....brought something to it......my friends didntlike him saying he was too slow and not giving a lot....but to me he was genuine, he felt things and when he did, he would say something.rahter than just rambling on.

I like him.......I may have to keep a look out for him! Very Happy
